What Money Means in Primary Schools is a booklet for teachers that emerged from the What Money Means project. It draws on practical experience gathered while teaching personal finance education in primary schools. It features over 20 detailed case studies and short taster ideas to get teachers started. The booklet includes a CD ROM containing classroom materials, suggestions for activities, units of work, examples of children’s work, planning grids, planning tools and frameworks for development.

It also includes a short DVD film titled What Money Means in Action, which demonstrates what personal finance education is like in primary schools. The film aims to inspire and support teachers in developing a planned and coherent programme of personal finance education and includes additional chapters covering: planning and preparation, in the classroom, learning outcomes and next steps.

Please note that the supporting documents are too large to be available for download. Therefore please order a hard copy of the resource pack to obtain the support materials and DVD film.

Alison Terry's comment:

What Money Means resource

Some great practical ideas for teaching personal finance in a primary school in a free colourful A4 book. The CD contains all the resources from the book and more for printing at school. Using ‘Word’ instead of ‘Acrobat’ means you can also adapt the resources for your own class.
This new edition also has a DVD showing primary age children from reception to year 2 doing personal finance activities in their classrooms and outdoors. Their teachers talk about what it has been like to develop and teach personal finance in their school and several pfeg consultants give their views as well.
All in all an excellent self-contained package for any primary teacher wanting to develop financial capability in their school.
