Relevant subjects
Suitable for gifted and talented
There are options to investigate/research many of the financial aspects in lesson 5 at a more advanced level.
As with many topics in PSHE there are opportunities for discussion which will give pupils with good verbal and communication skills the chance to shine.
Suitable for special educational needs
With careful support and some modification of questions this resource may be suitable for students with medium learning difficulties. The guidance on using the materials on a one to one basis may be helpful here.
Assessor's comments
A very useful resource to explore many of the issues and dilemmas surrounding teenage pregnancy and parenthood. Some engaging activities which allow young people to explore their own aspirations and plans for the future and the enormity of bringing up a child.
A very detailed and well presented resource with a number of activities covering mainly PSHE topics with one excellent lesson dealing with the financial implications of parenthood.
The activities are varied and engaging with full solutions given when appropriate. Within the resource there is information on how to gauge the changing views and opinions of students before and after the lessons have been delivered.
Each lesson contains a comprehensive plan, curriculum links and paper copies of the activities and could be used together or stand alone. There is an accompanying DVD with all the information in soft copy. This will be ideal for updating the extensive amount of financial figures and websites that are given.
