The Business Game
The Business Game is a business simulation and role-play. The game is scenario-based - the students ‘play’ the role of someone who wants to start a new manufacturing company. They choose a product t which they then produce and to take to market and sell. The students work through five ‘stages’: Introduction to the Scenario, Market Research, Selecting Your Sales Strategy, Preparing to start to Trade, Trading (completing 3 years of trading) and requires that the students undertake specific tasks that expose them to key enterprise concepts such as pricing, marketing and sales. Each stage must be completed before they progress to the next stage.

Assessor's comments
The game encourages the development of many key business concepts and by making many business decisions whilst playing the game students have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding. There is an initial high level of reading and getting to know how the game operates which may require additional teacher support for some students. It is possible to slow down and increase the speed of the game. The font size on many of the screens can be increased. The voice of the business mentor is also very helpful. The choice of products to be made and sold will appeal to both sexes including technology and jewellery.
