Assessor's comments

This is a very specific resource, concerned entirely with issues of taxation. The combination of video, website and paper-based materials is very effective. The video gives a clear account of how taxes are generated and used, and how to get into a career associated with taxes. Accompanying worksheets test the students understanding of such issues as use of key tax terms, students' own tax contributions on their payslips, how earnings are taxed, VAT and how money raised by taxes is spent. The website gives useful notes for students on what to do when attending an interview and there is further teachers' guidance. There are also links to a Fantasy Budget competition in which students are invited to 'predict the next budget' and TaxWorking, a website for students interested in a career in Taxation. The teachers' notes are also here in downloadable format.
