Assessor's comments

I found this resource easy to use and to fully meet the criteria laid down by “ Learning and Teaching in Scotland” for their initiative of providing opportunities for financial education for 11 to 14 year olds, (S1/S2 in Scotland). The teachers' advice notes were clear and precise and I particularly liked the section on family dynamics and cultural differences, in relation to finance, which alerted the teacher to possible areas of difficulty for some pupils.

The PowerPoint presentations were equally useful. The questions posed were open ended and this allows for discussion to develop. The provision of vocabulary guides and Internet web sites allows for the extension of discussion and for pupils to carry out personal research.

This is a simple to use package that develops mathematical skills through the use of real life examples, linking to the development of financial capability and issues associated with PSHE and Citizenship. It could easily be differentiated to meet the needs of different groups of learners.

Talk Money Talk Maths resource

Practical, sensible and thoroughly enjoyable! The students really enjoy the scenarios - they engage and interest students with 'real life' and develop maths skills at the same time. I really liked the fact that I could adapt the resources to specific needs - highly recommended!
