Money for Life
Although this resource is aimed at 16 – 18 year-olds, I have often seen it used successfully with students in Key Stage 4.
The first 3 sections, Samara’s student budget, Paul the plumber and Eve and Jason’s mortgage can be used as stand-alone units to introduce different financial topics, e.g. Paul the plumber introduces payslips, savings and pensions.
The activity entitled Circle of life in the Life choices section is particularly good. Young people are asked to think about the major events in their lives, the financial implications of them and the financial products that they are likely to need as a consequence of them. I have seen it used both to introduce financial products and to assess young people’s knowledge of them.
