This module introduces pupils to the purpose of banks and the range of services they provide. The activities give pupils the opportunity to learn how to use financial products and select the most appropriate ones to help manage their personal finances. The resource also provides an introduction to personal budgeting and the implications of financial decisions. It is a well thought out resource that develops pupils' knowledge and experience in a logical sequence.

For teachers who want a ready-made unit of work on banking, this is it. The online version has a mix of videos, interactive online activities, worksheets, discussion, follow-up activities, suggestions for homework (where this is appropriate). A printable version is also available.

The resource covers, inter alia, facilities a bank account offers, budgeting, saving, credit and debit cards, ATMs, how cheques are used, Internet Banking, bank statements, loans and borrowing, and a glossary of technical terms.

Assessor's comments

There are useful case study activities that could be used as part of Enterprise Education, contributing to both financial capability and economic understanding. Students would consider how to budget whilst in part-time jobs, apprenticeships, in early employment and living away from home for the first time.
