Classroom Video
Perfect for teaching Economic Wellbeing and Financial Capability to aged 14-19, this set of DVDs has been filmed and produced by Classroom Video Ltd in Bristol to specifically meet requirements set by the national curriculum. The young presenters introduce a multitude of financial topics with enthusiasm, and in a truly accessible manner, allowing the audience to fully engage and understand these sometimes confusing concepts.
The Credit Crunch DVD
2008/09 saw the UK descend into its worst recession since 1980, with rising unemployment, falling house prices, dropping interest rates and shocking business failures. This film examines basic economic concepts and uses the accessible analogy of a local burger bar to explain what the credit crunch is and the impact it’s had on the business world: the winners, losers, and realistic ways in which the situation may be resolved.
Because Money Matters Series
DVD1: Budgets, Spending and Taxation
Programme one looks at balancing earnings and expenditure, how we spend money, and where that money goes. The concepts of economies and taxation are discussed, and the film identifies the differences between products and services, with a bank manager and financial advisor on hand to provide insightful advice.
DVD2: Saving and Banking
This programme will introduce your classes to the different types of account offered by banks and building societies and highlights the importance of, and ways of, saving, including ISAs, premium bonds and pensions. Terminologies such as interest and direct debit are explained and an overview of a bank statement is provided.
DVD3: Borrowing and Managing Debt
Film three analyses what debt is, ways to avoid it and the reasons why people fall into debt. Discussion progresses into borrowing money and when it is necessary to do so. Unsecured loans, student loans and mortgages are explained, as are credit cards, preparing your students as they begin to manage their own money.
