Case Study No. 18: Developing personal finance education (pfe) in maths, ICT and geography. A cross curricular approach to pfe
This case study describes the evolution of personal financial education within the school, and provides the reader with insight into the ways it is possible to develop financial capability within the curriculum The case study also contains access to resources developed by the school and now available via their own website. At St. Ambrose Barlow RC High School they were keen to develop pupils’ ICT skills by applying them to a real life situation. This was done through the organisation of a module designed to develop financial understanding, competence and responsibility. Through a party planning activity for Halloween, Year 7 pupils learned a range of financial skills while enhancing their capability in ICT. The file, (8 pages) which is available to download, describes that process. This module has now been developed further and is available online details of how to access this are in the case study.
