How LMM works
pfeg's consultants offer wide range of support tailored to teachers' specific needs
Learning Money Matters offers free consultancy, support and teaching resources to secondary schools in England to help teachers plan and teach personal finance. You can access as much or as little help as you need and we will tailor it to meet your needs and those of your students.
What we do
pfeg consultants with a strong background in education will meet with you to discuss your needs and devise a programme of free support ranging from:- telephone or email support - answering your queries and concerns and helping with personal finance teaching issues
- introductory in-school support - up to half a day working with senior staff and teachers to help them assess their needs and plan and teach personal finance
- intensive in-school support - working with your senior team and class teachers for up to three days in school, planning work and activities with you.
We also offer one-day, off-site training for teachers from several schools in partnership with the local authority or other education bodies, or give sessions on personal finance as part of continuing professional development days or staff training.
What we don't do
pfeg understands that every school is different and that you know your students best - and because of this we don't offer 'off the peg' packages, exams or courses, or teach your lessons for you. What we will do is give you the background knowledge you need to teach personal finance well and the support to do it with confidence.pfeg values its independent status and we will never try to sell financial products and services.
About the consultants
pfeg uses a number of trained employed, certificated and freelance consultants that have expertise in working with teachers to develop personal finance education. Most pfeg consultants come from an education background and have been teachers, headteachers or Ofsted inspectors, or have worked with other statutory bodies in the past. Training, certification and ongoing feedback ensure that consultants are working to the highest standards. All consultants are checked with the Criminal Records Bureau.
