These case studies, describe the variety of approaches taken by teachers and schools to develop financial capability at Key Stage 3. These range from piloting PSHE/Citizenship modules for particular year groups to tackling individual personal finance topics to enhance subject areas such as mathematics or ICT. Some case studies provide exemplar resource material you might find useful.

These case studies describe the variety of approaches taken by teachers and schools to develop financial capability at Key Stage 4. Some deal with how a school might establish the skills their young people require. Other case studies provide descriptions and sample resources for teaching elements of financial capability such as understanding how the economy works, local and central government spending and pay rates.

The case studies presented here demonstrate how to make personal finance education engaging and relevant to students making the transition to adult life from a wide range of circumstances. Some students may be planning to go into higher education and along with other young adults need to learn the skills to live independently.

Parents are a significant influence in children's lives – their experience and expertise are often a valuable resource for teachers which could contribute to their children's learning.
