John has worked for most of his career in schools, culminating in the role of assistant head teacher at Verulam School, St Albans. There he ran the sixth form, co-managed a nationally recognised consortium arrangement, led on workforce remodelling, regularly directed the school play and taught English. He subsequently took a secondment with the Financial Services Authority working in its education section.
